Abstract

TRACES OF CREATIVE THINKING IN THE LITTLE PRINCE

The purpose of this study is to reveal the traces of creative thinking in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince. The study employs the case study method, a qualitative research approach. The data source of the study consists of the text of The Little Prince, and the data obtained from the text were analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that The Little Prince possesses a rich content in terms of creative thinking, one of the sub-dimensions of the fourfold thinking model. The metaphors, explicit and implicit expressions, characters, situations, and narrative excerpts in the story enable children to develop alternative perspectives and produce creative solutions beyond conventional thought patterns. Furthermore, The Little Prince is not only a literary work with high aesthetic sensitivity but also nurtures readers’ imagination, encourages the transcendence of established assumptions, and supports the development of original thinking skills. In this respect, the text transcends the limits of a conventional children’s story and serves as a multifaceted work that fosters individual development, contributes to educational processes, and enhances aesthetic awareness. Therefore, it is recommended that the book be read by children to strengthen their creative thinking, problem solving, and ability to develop diverse perspectives.
