A hapax legomenon refers to a linguistic form that appears only once within a specific context. The term originates from the Greek words hapax, meaning “once”, and legomenon, meaning “something said”. This study reviewed 66 academic works sourced from platforms like Yöktez, Dergipark and Academia, aiming to gather research on hapaxes in Türkiye. The study is presented under 2 subheadings: studies on hapax within historical or modern dialects of Turkish and studies on hapax in a particular work. The findings show that researchers define and limit the concept of hapax legomenon differently, depending on their theoretical perspectives. Significant attention has been paid to lexicographical sources such as Dîvânu Lûgati’t-Türk and An Etymological Dictionary of Pre-Thirteenth Century Turkish, which play a central role in hapax-related studies in Turkish linguistics.
