The aim of this study is to examine faculty members’ experiences regarding academic writing, their processes of producing academic texts, the challenges they encounter during these processes, and their views on their students’ academic writing skills. For this purpose, the study was designed according to the phenomenological pattern, one of the qualitative research methods. Interviews were conducted with 12 faculty members working at a public university in Turkey during the 2024–2025 academic year. The data were collected through a personal information form and an interview form and analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. Based on the findings of the study, the academic writing process was evaluated under the following themes: “reasons motivating academic writing, aspects considered in producing academic texts, challenges encountered in the academic writing process, preferences for writing/reading academic texts, views on the quality of academic texts, opinions about pre-service teachers’ interest and competence in academic writing, and suggestions for improvement”.
